Scholarships

The Doc Cohen Franchising Scholarship honors franchising great Doc Cohen by recognizing and supporting the next generation of franchising leaders. This competitive award, presented annually, provides to one recipient a $4,500 scholarship, which includes tuition assistance and the recipient's costs to travel to attend the IFA Annual Convention. The recipient may also have the opportunity to connect directly with Doc Cohen and his robust network in the franchising industry.

The IFA Foundation and the Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation have partnered to sponsor this educational scholarship. Created in memory of the co-founder of Subway, the competitive one-time scholarship award will provide financial assistance to students with studies in business/entrepreneurship or franchise management. Applicants must be U.S. citizens enrolled in an accredited college/university in the U.S. In addition to the one-time competitive $2,500 scholarship, the recipients will receive a complimentary registration to attend IFA’s Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend (up to $1,500) to attend.

The  Foundation and the Stewart and Jane Bainum Fund of the Community Foundation have paired to sponsor this competitive $2,500 one-time award to be presented to four individuals annually. Additionally, the individuals selected will receive a complimentary registration to attend IFA's Annual Convention and will receive a travel stipend (up to $1,500) to attend. To be eligible for this one-time award, applicant must: (1) be enrolled in a U.S. accredited college of university with studies in business, hospitality, or franchise management, (2) have sophomore, junior or senior college class standing for the period of the scholarship, and (3) be a U.S. citizen. The Irl Marshall CFE scholarship is awarded as a stipend of $2,500. The total amount of this scholarship will be applied toward the tuition for programs offered for ICFE credit and must be used within a three-year period. Amounts not used within three years of the time of the award will be forfeited, returning into the general scholarship fund.
